How to create Footprint from exitsing Board

Hi,

what is the best way to create a device/footprint from an existing PCB? This Board has multiple mounting holes and two connectors at opposite sites. The two connectors have to appear in BOM and PicknPlace data.

Kind regards
Paul

Footprint will not work because you do not have one. It's an (nearly empty) design with some parts already in it.

Imo a default schematic/board is easy, you can use it at start (simply rename it) or copy an existing schematic with cut/paste onto.

Or use the module function.

Ok, I can use a design block for this case. But when moving this board I have to worry about grouping all components to maintain the correct position to each other.

Is there a function like 'union' (Altium) in Eagle available?

Imo there is no union, group or block (as in Autocad) .

In your case i suggest a "template device" including the drills. Connector positions as control points (e.g. a circle for exact enter) and the dimension line in an extra layer above 100 (or on 20 if it it's never changed).
