How to create a stencil

Hello,

I am still a beginner and even if I cna create a PCB, I would like to try to have a stencil to easly solder some small part as a MBE280 ou a TSL2561.

I have Eagle 9.0.0 and I created a PCB from ULP commande.

Is there an easy way to create a stencil for it?

Thank for your support

Are you trying to make your own stencil?

Or are you trying to make the file to send to the board house so they can make a stencil for you?

I am not affiliated with Autodesk. I am a subscriber to the professional edition of Eagle and I've used Autodesk products for >20 years. The username displayed is the first half of the e-mail address I use to communicate with this forum, wherein I use (forum.name@mydomain.com) so it lands in my catch-all and I can pinpoint any entity who sells me out to the spam world. 🙂 I hope my contributions benefit others as much as the contributions of others have benefited me. Good luck with your project!

I fond this tuorial

https://www.autodesk.com/products/eagle/blog/getting-started-solder-paste-stencils/

but it shown for the version 8.2.

I do have Eagle 9.0 and I know since 9.0 the PCB process has changed.

What would you recommand you for the version 9.0?

Is this tutorial up to date?

Cheers

That should work fine.

I've been on Eagle since 8.4 and I'm on 9.x now and haven't noticed any difference in stencil Gerbers.

Thank for your reply.

I thing I do not understand.

He said to choose Gerber_RS274X instead of choose Gerber_X2

Secondely, if you look at my picture, the file extension is .gbr instead of .gpt

So I do not know what I did wrong in order to have stencil extension.gpt

Hi @pierrotQMPXK,

I hope you're doing well. Don't stress over the file extensions, the gerber standard never specified. For the purposes of a stencil you can just use the solderpaste files, solderpaste top and bottom. With the release of 9.2.2 the CAM processor defaults to Gerb274x so you don't have to worry about making that adjustment.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
