Help with conductive button footprint (making library part)

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to finish a custom button using the PCB copper with a conductive carbon pill membrane making contact to short the traces above.
However, I would like to make the outer diameter fully connected to GND.
I don't know how to make the pad the same signal as the trace though. I know how to join pads within a polygon, but not within a trace.
As it is now, the two pads will give an overlap error in DRC and (more importantly) I won't have a solid ground contact when I do the ground pour around the button itself. Any help would be much appreciated!!
