Hi Autodesk.
I have a feature request for the export from Eagle to MCAD.
I would like Eagle to be able to export directly to MCAD (Step and Iges formats), instead of uploading any of my designs to some place not under my control.
I'm fine with Eagle getting 3D models from the cloud to do this, and possibly caching them locally, but not that my designs leave my systems.
And Eagle should also support using locally provided 3D models in Step, Iges and/or wrml format, but here I kindda fear some vendor lockin.
I'm using FreeCAD to do my MCAD stuff (Linux only here).
Best regards
Niki

So it will be possible to export to Step/Iges without using the export to ecad.io function ?
And if so, do you have a time frame for when this will start to appear in Eagle ?

Hi Niki,
Thank you for participating on the forums. I know you already stated you don't like your designs leaving your computer, but just wanted to make sure you were aware of a cloud base solution called ecad.io, the site accepts EAGLE file and allow you to made step models to design. You can also upload step file to build you own cloud library.
Just thought I would mentions this.
Best Regards,
Ed
Hi Edwin.
Yes, I'm aware of the ecad.io export function in Eagle, and that is not an an option I can use when doing MCAD stuff with designs.
And I just don't buy into all the "Cloud" hype, it's way too over rated, you loose control of your data, and can't garantie the security of that data
