Eagle offline usage - ever possible?

Hello Autodesk,

for decades and for good reasons Eagle has been used by me and others in offline working places, and likely many previous users still prefer that way.

Until now only online subscription licences are offered. Ok, they have a 14 day heartbeat delay, but then they will revert to the limited version and are of little use.

Are there any special offers for users of previous licences (likely bought some months before the take-over)?

Will there ever be any way of using Eagle 8 in an permanent off-line environment?

Or is this the ultimate decision to drop that feature for ever?

Thanks in advance,

GM

Within the framework of subscriptions, like it is used for all other Autodesk products as well,

we'll try to make working with Eagle as smooth and pleasant as possible.

Hi GM -

The permanent offline model isn't in the cards but the login interval is set to 14 days to enable you to work offline for a reasonable amount of time without needing to log back in again.  This has worked well for all of the other Autodesk products and thus we havent needed a perpetual license since making the move to subscription.  Give the SW a shot and let us know what you think!

Best regards,

Matt - Autodesk.

What if you want to use an airgap network, for security reasons?

There are companies and agencies who have airgap networks for security reasons,

and updates and files are brought in using blank and virgin usb sticks only.

And I don't necessarily think about secret mil tech but there also start-ups in

stealth mode who opt for such measures.

So how to use eagle here?

In such a setting one can have expensive CAD software by Cadence, Mentor and the other big companies by having a flexlm server in that net, which could be run on an old sparc box running solaris or even a raspi pi? (if there would be binaries for that). These companies have 10s of years of experience and opt for using their old sparc box as it was just there all the time.

So such a licensing service as flexlm would be nice, if there is.

What is offered for Eagle for this scenario?

Hi ludwig.jaffe,

Thank you for joining and posting on the EAGLE forum. At this this time we don't offer a version of EAGLE that can be licensed controlled in an air-gap environment. I know this doesn't really help, but in the latest update of EAGLE, the offline period has been increased to 30 days.

Best Regards,

Ed

Can we get a new 30 day license on an online machine to keep our offline machine working?

Can we download 30 day license keys online to copy onto our offline PC?

Hi Doug,

I hope you're doing well. Currently, neither workflow is possible. Thank you for the suggestions because no one has mentioned anything like the first one.

Our director keeps an eye on the forums, either he or myself will respond if anything changes.
