EAGLE not working on Windows 11

Hi,

I am currently running Windows 11 with EAGLE and experiencing issues.

After a clean install of EAGLE(9.6.2) (and Windows11), it will not start up/get past the splash screen.

i've tried a workaround, which seemed to have a similar problem, linked in another forum post:

Autodesk EAGLE hangs or crashes after the splash screen and doesn't start | EAGLE | Autodesk Knowled...

Renaming the LIBEAY32.DLL to LIBEAY32.DLL.BAK (essentially turning the file off) causes EAGLE to start up properly but brings forward a different issue of not being able to login to the EAGLE Servers and not being able to use shared libraries from my work environment.

After this I tried the next step listed, "replacing" the LIBEAY32.DLL and SSLEAY32.DLL with the ones downloaded from the Total Commander Win Tools this made it able for me to go online again, but I am still unable to use the shared libraries.

I'd like to hear how to fix this.

Best regards,

Arjen Lammerts

I am in the same situation as you. It is quite upsetting to see that this issue has not been fixed. It is wildly inconvenient to have to jump through all these hoops in order to run EAGLE. Autodesk, your team has had enough time to fix this issue since the release of windows 11.... please understand that this does not inspire confidence and that your customers have plenty of other options to choose from in terms of PCB design software.

Just an update. I had a support call and they still have to fix it. However I discovered that when I open a design that already had the libraries added in Windows 10 I can open library manager and was able to select the missing library and click use. Then it became available. Just can't see the list of libraries in control panel. Looks like I can see them all now in library manager. So you could add them all there then they should become available to add parts.

Hi @warren_hawkins57R37 and @arjen.lammerts,

With the recent announcement of EAGLE's End of Life this will not be fixed. The best solution at this point is to transition of Fusion 360 if your circumstances allow.

@arjen.lammerts

Thank you so much for documenting the fix in a concise easy to follow format.

This worked perfectly.

I'm surprised Autodesk hasn't fixed this issue yet.

Im having the same problem. Implementing the first change fixed the issue of flash screen.

Im not able to do the second change due to the link does not have those files listed. The only thing there is all .ZIP files.

Has the LINK been changed or what???

I just installed the same version of Eagle (9.6.2).  How can this still be an issue?

Is Eagle not part of Fusion360?  You website is still inviting people to download Eagle as a free for hobbyist option.

It's 2025.  What a shoddy marketing plan.

Hi @dmdrendall ,

I hope this message finds you well. EAGLE is still available until June 2026, so why would it not be available for download? Additionally, it allows for a path into Fusion. EAGLE isn't receiving any updates so the workaround stated on this thread is the way to continue using it for those who wish to do so.

Were you able to get EAGLE up and running on your machine? Let me know.

Actually, the best solution is to switch to KiCAD. This problem was reported in 2021, and the developers decided not to fix it until 2026 when they made the software End of Life. That says a lot about what Autodesk thinks of their customers.
