Eagle Library Tabular Editor

For decades, we have had to endure, (maybe not the right word), the legacy library editor by manually adding attributes to devices, via the library editor, or by manually editing the .lbr file.

This is all well, works and fine (although can be tedious), but the ability to have a standard 'set' of attributes for new parts, or consistent attributes, would help validate and ensure the library values, and BOM, are correct.

Does any one know of plans, or third party tools, that will edit the raw .lbr and display all devices in tabular form, so we can easily update, check, and add new attribute values for example?  Visual example being like importing the library into Excel (which I know you cannot do), and then update the cell (attribute), values in tabular form and then export back to .lbr.

Hello @DitroniX,

I hope you're doing well. There are a couple of things that may be able to alleviate some of these issues.

If you have a default set of attributes you want to always use, you can put them in a script and every time you create a device, running that script will add all of the default attributes and you can then edit them.

If you are feeling adventurous or you already have a good handle on Python then this might be up your alley:

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

This is something we definitely to improve.

Many thanks Jorge for the reply.  Will look at both points.

However, something which hopefully could creep into the wish list.
