eagle.exe has stopped working

Hello, after upgrading to Eagle 8, eagle.exe crashes on startup. Have used E6 and 7 fine for years, new Eagle 8 just doesn't work for me. Generic screenshots are attached. Tried reinstalling a few times to no avail; any other advice? Using this for work so I need to get this fixed yesterday...

I checked both program files folders and also googled about how to remove it and everyone one I've checked says it's not there.

I checked my everything installed since I installed eagle as well. If it's there it was there before eagle was installed. But eagle worked

I'm going to try to uninstall eagle and reinstall it and see if that does anything

Hi @ all,

same problem here.

the further EAGLE Versions worked as well as they should be.

For some small projects within the university i try to install EAGLE Version 8.0.1

It´s a Windows 7, 64 bit System.

.NET Framework Version 4.6.1

Install Directory: C:\EAGLE 8.0.1

Lavasoft wasnt installed

After several attempts to install EAGLE, I disabled Windows Firewall and deinstalled Sophos Anti Vir.

Unfortunately without any success.

Within the EAGLE Install Directory a debug.log with the following content was created aftertrying to start EAGLE.exe

I would be grateful to anyone who has some tips, how to solve this issue.

Thank you and greetings from Dortmund

Daniel

Hello Daniel,

I hope you're doing well. In your case the crash seems to be related to a video driver issue. Could you try updating to the latest video drivers for your hardware?

Please accept as solution if my post fully resolves or you issue, or reply with additional details if the problem persists.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi Smgvbest,

I hope you're having a good day. Could you get us a crash report? That might give some insight as to what is going on. Here's the procedure:

When a program crashes (the process has stopped working or disappears), an event log file can be helpful for the development team to troubleshoot problems. Follow the steps below to find event logs(copied from http://www.cyberlink.com/support/faq-content.do?id=10449😞

Windows 7:

  1. Click Windows Start button > Type event in Search programs and files field.
  2. Select Event Viewer

  3. Navigate to Windows Logs > Application, and then find the latest event with “Error” in the Level column and “Application Error” in the Source column

  4. Copy the text on the General tab.
  5. Open Notepad, paste the text, and then save the log as .txt.
  6. Or you can take a snapshot of the entire screen and save as a .jpg file.
Steps to take a screen shot:
    a) To take a screen shot, press the "Prt Scr" key on your keyboard when you encounter this error.
    b) Then go to Start > Programs > Accessories > Paint.
    c) Paste the screen captured there by pressing "Ctrl+V" or Alt+Edit+Paste.
    d) Save the file as a .jpeg and then send it to us for analysis.
  7. Send the log (.txt or .jpg) to us

Sure,

here you go

Message 27 of 66

Hi Smgvbest,

Thank you for the crash report, it seems you are running 8.0.0 can you confirm or deny that? If you are running 8.0.0 then I encourage you to update to 8.0.1 since there were several bug fixes incorporated into that release.

The crash report shows that the issue is with ntdll, try some of the fixes here and let me know if any of that helps.

Either way I'll take this report to the devs and see what they come back with.

thought I was on 8.0.1 but just downloaded it and the install is hung.

it just hangs there on Visual C++ redistribution doing nothing

if I click anywhere I just get a ding sound from windows.   can't close it, can't move it,  cant' do anything with the dialog box.

any log file I can send to help figure this out.

Message 29 of 66

Hello @carrollsandra,

Go ahead an uninstall EAGLE completely from your system and then reinstall 8.0.1. The last part of the installation where it installs the C++ redistribution is the one that takes the most time so wait on that one.

Let me know if this doesn't resolve the situation. Again look carefully to make sure you don't have Lavasoft installed, it is a little sneaky.

see my previous post dated 02-18-2017 04:49 PM

I can not uninstall 8.0 due to that error,  and now the 8.0.1 install that hung on C++ libraries won't uninstall either.

after 24hrs of it being hung I killed the install.  i think 24hrs is way more then enough time to install anything.

Also got the message that Eagle has stopped working (ASUS laptop F553M, win10 64bit) after install of Eagle 8.0.1.

Lavasoft programs were not installed on the PC but a Lavasoft folder containing many programs was in the programs x86 folder.  Possibly supplied with the PC.

Tried to run the Lavasoft installer in this folder but got a dialog box stating that the program may not have uninstalled properly.

Removed the entire Lavasoft folder, downloaded the Lavasoft webcompanion, installed then uninstalled (as previously suggested), rebooted laptop and now Eagle 8.0.1 runs ok (so far).Smiley Very Happy

Hi @carrollsandra

I hope you're doing well. Yes, definitely 24 hours is more than enough time for a program to install.

Let's try this delete the Eagle folders at the root of C. Then try to uninstall again. If this still fails, let me know. I'll reach out through direct messaging to see if we can get this resolved.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

ok,

I deleted the directory then went into programs and features and uninstalled it there.

I then reran the install and it's hanging on the V++ stuff still,   been running since last night.

i terminated that process.

here's the plus,  I can now run eagle 8.0.1.

the minus when I exit it it crashes  (attached event log)

it seems to run ok though, but will need more time to know for sure

I don't like the VC++ stuff not finishing and maybe part of why I have the crash at the end now?

Message 34 of 66

Hi @carrollsandra

I'm glad that 8.0.1 is working for you. I would encourage you to try to see if you can update your video drivers since those can sometimes cause issues with EAGLE's operation.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Jorge Garcia

Message 36 of 66

Good morning,

I have just installed the student version of Eagle 8.1.0 on my computer and I am experiencing the same problem. Everytime that I launch the application it crashes:

eaglecrash1.pngeaglecrash2.png

Im running it in:

  • Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
  • Intel Core 2 Duo @3.16GHz
  • 4GB RAM

I have no Lavasoft software (I checked) installed but I do have an AMD ATI Radeon HD 3400 Graphics card. I already updated the driver (since I read somewhere that this could possibly correct the issue). I also installed this same version on my laptop but in Ubuntu OS and there is no problem. My laptop works with:

  • Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
  • Intel i7 6500U @3.1GHz
  • 8GB RAM
  • Intel HD Graphics 520

Any help guys? I ran out of ideas.

Thank you,

AG

on my side it seemed to crash when i clicked on "eagle"  (see #1 on screenshot)

once i went through the file menu (#2 on screenshot) and chose something, everything started working semi normal.

well, at least i can open up brd / sch now.. haven't done anything else since was frustrated and needed a break.

not sure where eagle stores its settings so cant check what it changed path to; et al.

Hi @liino62782

Thanks for participating in the forums. Look in the README file that comes with EAGLE, you'll find it in the doc folder of EAGLE's installation directory. It will reference running EAGLE through a batch file to force software rendering. Follow those instructions and you should see EAGLE open just fine.

Please accept as solution if my post fully resolves or you issue, or reply with additional details if the problem persists.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Good Morning,

I have searched for the README document in the C:/EAGLE_8.1.0/doc and there is nothing. I did a quick search in the whole directory and got any matching result either. I also did search it on google with no result. Could you paste the code of the batch file here? Or send it to me?

Thank you,

AG

Hi AG,

That was my mistake, the bat file already comes with the installation. I'm sorry for the error, its in the main EAGLE installation folder EAGLE-8.1.0. The bat file is called:

eagle_SW_OpenGL.bat.

Double click it and EAGLE should start without issue.

Please accept as solution if this solves the problem.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
