eagle.exe has stopped working

Hello, after upgrading to Eagle 8, eagle.exe crashes on startup. Have used E6 and 7 fine for years, new Eagle 8 just doesn't work for me. Generic screenshots are attached. Tried reinstalling a few times to no avail; any other advice? Using this for work so I need to get this fixed yesterday...

Hello Jordan,

I hope you're doing well. I don't know what version of EAGLE your are trying (8.0.0 or 8.0.1) and I also don't know what OS you are working on so I'm taking a couple of guesses here based on your screenshots.

First and foremost EAGLE 8 is only for 64 bit architectures, it won't run on a 32 bit machine. If you are on a 64-bit machine then make sure you download the latest update 8.0.1.

Please accept as solution if this solves your problem.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hello Jorge,

I have tried both 8.0.0 and 8.0.1 on my Win 10 64 bit machine.

Hello Jordan,

Do you have visual studio installed on your machine, do you code using that tool?

The second picture you posted seems to hint that there is some interaction. Could you confirm?

Indirectly yes since I have Atmel Studio installed although I only installed Atmel Studio yesterday and  have had the Eagle issue for about a week now. Perhaps it's something to do with Microsoft C++ Redistributable or .NET Framework?

Hi Jordan,

I hope you're doing well. I've contacted our developers on this issue and will get back to you once I have more information.

Hi Jordan,

Can you confirm the path you installed EAGLE too? It should be the root of C, which is where it wants to go by default. Make sure there are no spaces in this path if this is indeed where you installed it to.

This might be the issue since Windows places a lot of restrictions on the Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders, if you installed there this might explain the crashes.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

It is installed in the default location @ C:\EAGLE 8.0.1

I changed the name to C:\Eagle8.0.1 but it still crashes on start

Jorge, did you get any updates regarding this issue?

Message 10 of 66

Hi Jordan,

I hope you're doing well. So far all of your answers to the questions I have asked are checking out correct. Now we have to go deeper, do you have any special network configuration? Anything beyond a basic home internet connection is open to discussion so please let me know.

What type of Graphics card are you using? In another post a user was able to fix his startup issues by updating his video card driver.

What anti-virus do you have installed? In the past Kaspersky has not been too friendly towards EAGLE so disabling may help us see if there is any interaction there.

Lastly, in the past EAGLE and a program called RoboForm did not get along at all. If you have an install of this program can you disable it temporarily?

Any and all information you can provide will help us figure out what is going on.

The last thing I would like to request is if you post a screen recording of you starting EAGLE. You can use the screencast tool from here:
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hello Everyone,

We have another possible lead on this issue. Does anyone on this thread use Lavasoft Ad-aware? If you do please disable it temporarily and try running EAGLE does it work? Please let me know.

If anyone is willing to do a screenshare also please let me know. We want to get to the bottom of this as soon as possible.

Please let me know.

Jorge,

Network connection: I am using this on a work PC although it is a small LAN not unlike a basic home network setup. We have two licenses where the Engineer sitting beside me is able to run Eagle just fine.

Graphics: Radeon 270. I disabled this as well as updated and it seemed to have no effect on Eagle.

Antivirus: Windows defender. I disabled this and it seemed to have no effect.

RoboForm/Ad-aware: not installed

Hopefully you can follow this screencast share. It is public but I haven't used screencast before...

Hello Jordan,

If Windows gives you a crash report could you post it here. The devs would like to check it out. Thank you for the screencast.

You have an AMD graphics card which in another thread updating the drivers fixed the issue but not in your case.

If you can't get a crash report, could you give me a list of the background processes running on your machine?

Thank you for the screencast,

You mention the engineer next to you can work just fine. Is he using the same type of hardware you are using? If you are using the same hardware then seeing what is different between both machines may give us some clues.

Thanks Jordan for your insight we are working as hard as we can to figure this out.

There is no auto-generated crash report. Jorge, this is not OK; I am under a deadline and this is dragging out too long. Eagle 7 runs just fine on my machine. Eagle 8 is broken. I get the error as soon as Eagle tries to bring up the login window. What dependency does Eagle 8 have that Eagle 7 does not especially regarding the addition of the login window?

I really do appreciate your help but I badly need this software to work. Can you provide me with a professional license of Eagle 7 as at least that is working.

Lavasoft was running unbeknownst to me (using an hand-me-down computer) as "web companion" in prog/features. After uninstalling, Eagle now works. Sorry, this was frustrating for me. Glad it works now.

Hello,

I am having this same problem and it just started.

It had been working fine.

I have no Lavasoft programs on my PC,  checked both Programs and Features and looked in my Program Files directory for it.

I am on a Dell Laptop i5,  Eagle 5.6 runs fine.  eagle 8 gets same error after I enter my User ID and Password.

Bitfender is turned off

Using Intel HD Graphics for video

8Gb memory.

No more running than normal when it worked last

Hi smgvbest,

Thanks for your participation on the forum, sorry for the inconvenience you are experiencing. Can you please verify that the version of Windows you are using is 64bit?

Best Regards,

I also thought i had the same problem. Lavasoft wasnt installed on my computer but the files are in the program files(x86) folder. I installed the program then uninstalled it and Eagle started working perfectly. i suggest you check too.
