Eagle 9.6.2 Libraries In Use Updates Hang / Slow

I generally create a custom managed library for each project, and restrict all components to that library.  Lately, trying to prune the Libraries In Use so that only the associated custom library is available when I go to add a component to a schematic is *very* slow, on the order of 10 seconds per library removed, when it doesn't just hang entirely.  And the list of available libraries (in my project) initially does not seem to honor those set to 'Use' in the top level menu at all.  Am I missing something basic?  Or is something broken?

Why don't you just have a folder containing all your libraries for general usage? I do that and I have no speed problems other than the online libraries are also included which I don't like. Trying to solve it but nobody have replied yet to my post.

I used to do that, but I work at multiple locations, and keeping libraries
in sync between local and cloud versions on multiple platforms is tricky.
And for a production design, you want to be able to say "this archive
contains *ALL* the source for this design". That is neigh-on impossible if
you also randomly utilize general library components.

That's why I only store ALL my libraries in a Dropbox folder. I don't use their online library system as it sucks imo.
When I start a project I go in and remove all the online library and then just use my libraries in Dropbox folder.
