Eagle 9.1.x won't start on Windows 10

I got a new notebook and tried to install Eagle, first 9.1.0, then 9.1.3.

On first start I need to enter account data and last verify with SMS code.

Then window disappears and nothing happens.

When I try to start Eagle, sometimes there's the splash-screen, but no program window opens. I can see in task manager that eagle .exe quits after some seconds.

Already deleted c:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Eagle\subscription.v1 - start over wiith verification and same issue

So I am not able to use the program. Any ideas to fix it?

Thank you and Autodesk support so much!

Haunted by this issue for a whole day before finding this post, and get it running perfectly in 3min. But eagle team should really address this issue in their build by default. I am using eagle 9.6.2 right now and this problem persists.

Hi @Anonymous ,

I hope you're doing well. Could you elaborate on how you tried the suggested solution and how it didn't work for you?

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

@Anonymous The suggested solution of simply deleting the file libeay32.dll will just prevent Eagle from connecting to its cloud parts and effectively break it. The method that worked for me was to replace the Eagle version of libeay32.dll with another version. If you have Git installed, search in its installation directory for libeay32.dll. Make a back-up of the version in the Eagle install directory and then replace it with a COPY from the Git install directory. On my system this was Git version 2.10.2.windows.1  but be sure to check your version and adjust appropriately.

git version 2.10.2.windows.1

libeay32.dll

This thread goes back to 2018.  The issue has persisted for 15+ releases. In this and multiple other threads, @jorge.garcia has pointed users to a third party tool from Shining Light Productions to swap in a DLL to resolve the issue. Another popular solution is to use a DLL from https://www.dll-files.com. Another is from  https://indy.fulgan.com. Why does a tool that costs $495/year require hacking DLL files to work? Where is the explanation of why Eagle doesn't work as installed after so many versions with this issue?  I apologize for the rant but honestly when will the issue be resolved?

Greeting from 2023. Today, this issue happened to me after I installed Eagle 9.6.2 on a new Windows 10 PC.  On this computer, all I've seen from Eagle so far is the splash window and the login prompts.

After I renamed libeay32.dll (residing in folder C:\EAGLE 9.6.2), EAGLE starts. 🤷‍♂️

I believe that I last solved the problem by just deleting the file. I also solved the problem by not using Eagle anymore. I only use it to open Eagle designs, and Kicad from now on.
