Eagle 8 and 8.1 freezes on Windows 10

Hi, downloaded Eagle 8.1 and still freezing on windows 10. i reinstalled twice windows and eagle. but when opened any dropdown menu or popup menu eagle freezing. when eagle freeze i need to close it from task manager.

Hi @oozcan42,

 

I hope you're having a good day. There are a few things to try here:

 

1) Try starting EAGLE using the eagle_SW_OpenGL.bat file that is in EAGLE's installation directory.

 

2)If that doesn't help, then make sure you are using the most up to date NVIDIA drivers for your hardware.

Sorry it didnt worked still freezing. i installed old versions(before Autodesk) of Eagle but they froze too. But any other applications(Autodesk 3dsmax,Adobe Photoshop,Microsoft Office, Games vs.) dont freeze. Only Eagle freezing.

My system.

CPU i7 5700hq

Ram 2x8 GB

storage 120 gb ssd + 1Tb hdd

graphic intel gma 5600 + nvidia gtx960m

 

 All drivers update.

 

What is the problem? Please help.

Hi @oozcan42,

 

I hope you're doing well. Could you check carefully to see if you have either bitdefender or lavasoft software installed on your machine? Did you make sure to install EAGLE to the root of C? Are you running the latest 8.1.0 version of EAGLE?

 

From the video it looks like there may be some other process running on your system that seems to interfere with EAGLE.

I also have this freezing issue with 8.1 on windows 10.  Seems to be related to the follow me feature.

Hi slearyHRNGX,

I hope you're doing well. Could you download the latest 8.1.1 and try it out? If it still happens could you post a screencast showing the crash happening. If it is happening while you are using the follow me router then there might be a bug that needs to be addressed.

I hope you're doing well. I apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing. Let's try this, could you follow these instructions and get me an error log for EAGLE.

Hopefully that will contain information that can guide us to find what is happening on your specific machine. Thank you for posting the videos since it makes very clear what's going and avoids having to confirm simple details like what version you are using.

Hi @oozcan42,

I hope you're doing well. Thank you for posting the screenshot and the hang report. Try this:

Rename the EAGLE 8.2.2 folder to EAGLE-8.2.2(no space) this has helped a few users. Since you are using a different language interface it's possible that EAGLE is not liking the space there because the error talks about a bad package name.

Hi,

 

I had this same issue with EAGLE 8.x.x and every thread that I looked at didn't have a solution that worked for me. I fixed it by running it in compatibility mode for Windows 7. Everything runs smoothly now. Hope that helps.

You might want to try looking at the date next time. The last reply was solved 5 years ago! LOL! Looks like a ChatGPT reply. That's about the most generic fix reply possible.

You missed....

'Try restarting your computer'

'Ensure your power supply has enough watts to run your PC under load'

'Check for built-up dust in your PC and graphics card'

Hahaha!

Come on are you serious, latest updates? OS updates are what causes problems. Look how many noobs got caught not looking when Microsoft tried to force-update Win 7 PCs to Win 10 and those computers no longer booted. Similar issues are happening now with Win 11.

The PCs people are using can run Eagle just fine. Eagle 9.x will run even on a modest PC from 2010 (Core2Duo 2GHz).

As for reaching out to Eagle Support, that's hilarious buddy. The original person **WAS** reaching out to support here. You know what this forum is, right? Or hmmm, maybe not.....

Thanks for your reminding. Five years ago this problem was not solved. But i think new versions of Eagle works on Windows 10. Or lets try it.

Eagle 9.6.2 works good on Windows 10 🙂
