Eagle 8.7.0 grid overwrite

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

as you can see, grid is overwriting parts, nets and all.

Also grid settings are not saved after reopen (mm instead of inch).

Hello @Anonymous,

You can turn the grid on and off, as well as adjusting the units by clicking on the GRID icon. If you are trying to setup a default, then the best thing is to add a line to your eagle.scr file that turns off the grid and sets the units to MM.

Go to the EAGLE control panel > Scripts and double click eagle.scr this will open it in a text editor. Under the SCH: section add the following on a new line:

GRID MM OFF;

Save the eagle.scr file and close it. Every time you open a new design it will apply those settings to those schematics. If you run into a design that doesn't have the correct settings just click on the script icon on the top toolbar and run the eagle.scr.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi Jorge,

I think perhaps you may have missed @Anonymous's first point. I think he wants the grid there but for it to be distinctly "behind" the real objects (nets, symbols, text etc.). In the screenshot he posted, the grid appears to be "in front" of the schematic. (I suspect it's actually alpha blended but the effect is the same).

Of course, I may be wrong...

Cheers,

Rob

Hi Rob, yes you are right, I though that grid should be behind.

It is bad looking when it is in front.

Hi Jorge, thank you for tips with eagle.scr file.

Hi @Anonymous

What you could try is setting the grid to dots rather than lines. I find this creates a less intrusive and easier grid display to work with.

Click on the Grid toolbar icon and select the dots option.

Cheers
