Creatin custom slots/holes on the PCB

Hi, 

I am trying to place a "race-track-shaped" hole on my PCB. 

I have tried creating the shape with the polygon-tool and setting its layer to "20-dimensions" or "drill" or "milling". But none of them worked and actually changed the shape of the board. 

I have also tried pushing the board to Fusion360 and creating the holes there and pulling it back to EAGLE. This attempt also failed. I could not extrude the desired shape out from the PCB.

I would appreciate any piece of advice. Thank you very much in advance.

Hi @a.ozbas,

I hope this message finds you well. Slotted holes are now fully supported in Fusion 360, but EAGLE can't deal with them.

If you have the possibility to do the entire design in Fusion 360 then that will be easier. If not then this would be the way to do it in EAGLE

Do you actually mean pads, not holes? Holes are simple to add, as you say, just draw the outline of the hole in the Dimension layer. For pads you can only have round holes, but you can then overlay a slot on the round pad and the PCB house will cut it out. I do this all the time for some of the custom parts I use.
If you ARE just doing holes, you have to ensure you close the shape. So if you want a rounded slot (you will if you want it to be produced, as you cannot make square slots) then draw a rectangle first with a large grid size so it's simple to close, then use the miter tool to round off the corners to create rounded ends.

Thanks for the explanation. 

I also figured out that the "20-dimension" layer width should have been set to zero, this way it was possible to cut-out the desired shape from the PCB.
