Create an area with no solder mask

I'm going to design a board that will actually be a panel for a device. How do I create an area with no solder mask or copper? I just want the raw PCB material exposed.

Hello @infinite.machinery,

Use a polygon and the tStop(bStop) layer and cover the whole board with it. Alternatively you could also use a rectangle. That will make the entire board exposed copper.

What if I want a small circle of exposed PCB, no solder mask or copper? Would a circle on the tStop and bStop do that?

A circle with width set to zero on the tStop and bStop layers would do that.

I not grasping how a circle with a width of zero would do anything. Maybe if I better explained what I'm trying to accomplish.

I want to make a panel using a PCB. I want some small circular areas of the board to have no solder mask or copper. This is so that LEDs, on the device the panel is covering, can show thru the PCB translucent material.

Hi @infinite.machinery,

I should have given more context. In EAGLE, use the circle tool to draw a circle on the tStop or bStop, using the default line with you will just get the outline of a circle. For this application you need the circle to be filled in. To this in EAGLE, you have to set the line width of the circle to be 0. It's a special feature of the circle command.
