Circular PCB outline works only when drawn using arcs

I wanted a circular outline for my PCB and I got started by drawing a circle on the dimension layer (I believe no: 20, orange color). When I moved all the components into the board area, I was not able to route the board properly. It seemed to ignore all DRC checks.

After reading a forum post, I drew the circular outline using arcs. I was able to route my board properly.

Is there a specific reason for not being able to draw outlines using circles instead of arcs? I find the latter to be a bit cumbersome whereas I could easily manipulate the radius, center etc while drawing an outline using a circle.

I just tried with 8.5.1 and it worked just fine.  I removed the original square pcb outline in the empty pcb, added a circle of 1 mil width on the dimenstion layer (20), put in some parts from a designblock.  Ripped it all up, and then let the autorouter have a go at it.  Not  problem at all as can be seen from the screenshot below.

Interesting! I am using 8.5.1 as well. This is what my cursor looks like when I route my PCB inside a circle (drawn using the circle feature).

Hi @sai_yamanoor,

That circle indicates that you are routing in an invalid area or that the route started in an invalid area. Turn on your restrict layers and see if by any chance you are routing in a restricted area. That would explain what is going on.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
