Cannot move parts in Board View? Please help!

Hi all-

I'm a new user to Eagle, but an experienced engineer.  

When in Schematic view, I can move parts around just fine.  However, in Board view, when I "Left-click-and-drag" the part moves, but I cannot release it.  It just keeps moving, like something stuck to your finger you can't put down.  If I hit "Escape," it goes back to its original placement.

I've tried everything...left click, right click, alt-click, shift-click, etc etc.  I've also tried rebooting and re-installing EAGLE.

Using EAGLE 9.3.0 Free on Mac OS X 10.11.6 (El Capitan).

Please, any advice is appreciated...I'm about to pull my hair out...

Hi Jeremy,

What is the size of your board? What is it's location with respect to the origin? I suspect you are hitting the restriction of the free version of EAGLE not allowing you to move parts outside the 80 square cm area which must be in the upper right quadrant with respect to the origin. Usually this should pop up a dialog telling you it's hit the license restriction but there is a bug in recent versions where that doesn't show up. I've just confirmed this behaviour by signing out from my license so I am in free mode and in 9.3.1 I see the same as you are reporting if I try to place outside of the allowed area.

Thank you so much for your reply! 

It turns out it was some sort of glitch in the Schematic and/or Board files.  I opened a New Schematic, placed all of the parts again, then switched to Board View, and it worked perfectly!

I've since laid out a second board, again with no problems.  Very strange behavior, but good to know I wasn't doing something horribly wrong. 😉
