Can't find 'C:\Users\**.scr' Error.

When I try to run a ULP, one that I have used a dozen times before without issue, is giving me an error message.

Specifically, a small popup occurring right after I execute a ULP - That has Error at the top, and Can't find 'C:\Users\Steve.scr', with an OK and Cancel box.

I've reinstalled Eagle a half dozen times, with no change in this error.

Furthermore, Windows 10 won't let anybody keep a file in the C\Users\directory. (so I can't change a default SCR file to Steve.scr)

Secondly, there are no users by the name of Steve.

Thirdly, the script I am running is on a different hard drive, and always have been, with no such filename in any folder I have.

Can you please tell me how to get Eagle to stop referencing this erroneous file/location.   Does anyone care to provide me with a default eagle SCR file and a means to set this as the file to be referenced?

Thanks!

Hello @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. Does that mean you are working with Fusion Electronics? If that's the case you will probably want to post the issue to the Fusion 360 Electronics forum.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

I think I know the problem because I just fixed my problem which I think is the same as what is being experience in this thread.

I was trying to add a logo to my board design using File->import->bmp. It would go all the way until me pressing "run script" where it would fail saying canʻt find **.scr.

After a bit of head banging, including reinstalling Eagle, I realized that the ** of the error was part of my filename up until I had a " ʻ " in the name. This isn't an apostrophe, but a special character in a different language. I had a keyboard switch to a foreign language in which I think whatever was running the script didnt recognize. So I closed everything and renamed the project to not include this character and i was able to generate the logo without the error anymore.

So there must be some temporary script that is made to generate the logo and then erased. Hope this helps you!

Ok so this problem drove me crazy for about 2 hours until I found out that one of the sub-folders in witch my project was located had an extra space in the name.

Here is an example: C:\Users\MyUser\Desktop\NewFolder\PCBs\My PCB

You see the space between "My" and "PCB"? THAT SHOULD NOT BE THERE.

This saved me from the agonizing pain. Hope is helps you too.

Adrian
