Bug / documentation issue with PASTE / design blocks?

Hi all,

I'm really excited for 8.1.1 and started using it today! I was trying to add a design block to my schematic and searched for 'design block' in the HELP. The PASTE command seems to be for design blocks, but did not work for me in a scenario.

Issues:

  1. The only design block PASTE syntax was "PASTE [ DBL ][ orientation ] [ offset ] filename •", however I believe filename should also have a [ ] around it as later in the help it states "If the DBL option is used, it pastes a design block by file name. If no file name is given, a dialog similar to the ADD dialog pops up."
  2. Typing "PASTE DBL" in the command line does not seem to do what it states in the HELP and instead pops an error "Clipboard buffer is empty!"
  3. I can't seem to find any other way to call the "Add a design block" button without manually clicking it.

Am I doing something wrong or do there need to be some changes here? I'd love to add design blocks and open the window from the command line if possible.

Thanks!

Hi Samy,

I hope you're having a great day! This is an issue in our documentation and I have written a report for it.

In the meantime type:
paste dbl *<enter key>

To bring up the dialog from the command line.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

This ability to mark and schedule bugs to be solved withing 24 houts is a thing that inspires loyalty. I will be using it to the fullest extent. That said, you noticed that I watched the timestamps of questions and answers. And all it took was just one man. Autodesk should have bought Eagle in 2002. 🙂
