Running Eagle 8.0.0
MacOS 10.12.2
After editing a part in my library I tried to close the window and got this error message "Can't close window while command is running!". I also got it when trying to close other windows as well as the application at a hole. Forced closed and retried with similar results. Will try rebooting now.

I could possibly see the link of the stop button and this issue, but it might also be expected behavior. I personally like this, but Eagle now defaults to "Group" select being active, which is why I believe the red button is always on. The automatic group command can be turned off in preferences, and I would assume that the stop button would then be gray after clicking it.
Hello Jorge Garcia,
If I can vote for new features, I like how net names are displayed in layout editor. I think it would be useful to add such feature to schematic editor. Of course I can manually add text on net segments. But if this would be done automatically, it would be better. Mainly, it would easily uncover mistakes related to net names or wrong connections.
Sorry for off topic. I do not know where I should post this. If there is another thread for improvement suggestions, feel free to move this post.
Yup, time for a fix. Same thing happening on 8.0.1 on Mac for me.
To Autodesk, PLEASE TEST THE APPLICATION before shipping. EAGLE has always been quirky, but it was actually pretty stable. Since the software now costs more money, I think it's reasonable to expect *at least* the same level of quality.
Just a thought: remember that virtually all users are probably working with libraries made in legacy pre-Autodesk EAGLE. I would guess that the developers are testing with newly made libraries. Maybe that is why you are having issues tracking down this bug. It seems like it is caused by many different things, and is not very repeatable. However, I have been using EAGLE a lot in the past week or two and run into it CONSTANTLY while using the library editor. Maybe have developers do more testing with legacy libraries.
This is a *huge* and extremely urgent problem, and preventing me from doing work.
I've paid for the new version, ... so I open an email Case Number: 12697650
Others on this thread that have paid support ... please go over an file a support request. It's pretty clear that this hasn't gotten the attention it needs.
Right now, I can't work with custom libraries at all.
Hello,
I'm using Eagle 8.0.1 on MAC OS 10.12.3 on a MacBook Pro w/16 gigs of RAM and a terabyte HD (SSD). This issue, and others are making me look at alternative products.
I just created a new symbol and switched to the "Package Editor" and noticed that there are no "PADS" to place. I couldn't seem to do anything without a 'bong' so I tried to go back and SAVE my symbol, and saw the dreaded ERROR. Now the only thing to do is go to the "energy monitoring"
screen, FORCE QUIT and start over;
I also cannot download the "Standard" subscription software I paid for and/or get it to install. Every time I download I get the same file and when I install it I get the same FREE version I already have. I have a project to work on and I've spent 5 days so far and can'[t get anywhere. I really wish Autodesk would have left Eagle alone. I've not gotten far enough to determine if they have done anything useful to it yet. So far it is just broken, useless software.

Hi bconk75,
If you have Windows running on Parallels (or other virtual machine), try installing Eagle into it. I have tried, and I didn't get the error.
I am waiting for bug fix, but in the meanwhile I can successfully design PCBs under Windows.
maskrtnik01,
Yes, I can confirm - I did the same thing. I edit the library in Windows / Parallels and then use it in Mac Eagle projects. Just map the libraries directory to a shared drive between Windows/Mac and it works pretty well - a bit clunky but at least it doesn't lock up.
Hopefully Autodesk releases a fix soon. Like i said it works, but it is going to get old pretty fast the more libraries i work on.

8.0.2 is out ... haven't tried it yet to see if it fixes this problem.
I also have a problem with this update process ... but that is a different forum topic.
Quick heads up for everyone,
We are still getting reports of this issue with 8.0.2. This is a really nasty bug and it's being very difficult to track down. So far we are seeing that in some cases it causes EAGLE to hang(what most of you are experiencing) or in other cases to just crash. I've been able to reproduce both behaviors on the same machine.
We are working diligently on getting this resolved I'll post back as soon as I have more information.
I totally empathize with all of you who are having issues with EAGLE on your macs and we are doing everything we can to get this sorted out.
If anyone finds out any additional details please post them here.
Best Regards,
This is endemic when working with any TI generated import scripts (SCR). I have to continually force quit Eagle to make progress. Not going to be spending any money on this software until this is fixed for sure.
Hello Everyone!!
We released 8.1.0 yesterday, and we have a bugfix for this issue. I encourage everyone to try it out and let me know how EAGLE is working for you.
Please let me know if you guys continue to run into problems.
Best Regards,
Jorge Garcia
Hi, downloaded Eagle 8.1 and still freezing on windows 10. i reinstalled twice windows and eagle. but when opened any dropdown menu or popup menu eagle freezing. when eagle freeze i need to close it from task manager.
Hello, so far I have not noticed any issues with v8.1, but it is still a little early to tell for sure. I am not sure if @oozcan42's issue is the same issue or not, but so far it looks like this bug is likely fixed.
