"eagle.exe has stopped working" when dismissing update

Recently I've been having an issue with the update prompt. Within seconds of clicking 'Dismiss' I will get the error "Eagle.exe had stopped working". Both updating the graphics drivers or launching Eagle in OpenGL mode don't solve the problem. Updating to the newest versions of Eagle does fix it however, until a new update is released and the cycle starts all over again. Starting Eagle while my pc is disconnected from the network prevents the update prompt, and thus the crash, but this is obviously not a long term solution.

Hello @wilco.vandenbrink,

This is interesting, I haven't heard of this. If you could provide more information about your Windows setup that would be really helpful. If you can provide a crash report following the instructions here:

https://www.cyberlink.com/support/faq-content.do?id=10449

I tried to reproduce it but I was unable to on my Windows 7 machine.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

I have included a screenshot of the Event Viewer log as an attachment. While it is the same error code as with previous crashes, this time Eagle didn't actually crash. I tried to reproduce the error, but even after a few tries Eagle kept running although it did log the same error in the Event Viewer during one of the attempts. The only difference in my setup since my post is a reboot, but that has been done between previous crashes as well.

Hi @wilco.vandenbrink,

I'm happy that it hasn't crashed since, but man that's weird. If you get it to crash again please let me know. Maybe you had an update or something, do you go long stretches of time without restarting your computer?

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

To answer your question: I shut down the computer everyday, exactly to prevent strange issues like this and to give Windows the opportunity to install updates.

Also I have some more specific information about the crashes. Previously the problem was that after launching Eagle, the update popup would show and clicking dismiss would cause an immediate crash. Since my last post about it not crashing anymore, instead of showing the popup it shows the 'Update Available' in the top-left corner. This allow my to use Eagle by just ignoring the notification.

Clicking on the 'Update Available' notification opens the popup as normal, this causes no issues or warnings in Event Viewer, even after leaving it open for a while. Clicking on Dismiss however, does cause the same application error as shown in my last reply. The problem is that this only happens about 50% of the time. In contrary to previous crashes, Event Viewer now also generates a more detailed error report, including a WER file. See attachment, I have renamed it to Report.txt to make it a valid attachment.
