New Licensing vs Features

Matt & Jorge-

I’ve spent some time looking at the commercial (i.e. not Maker) pricing models for v8.   Based on various comments about the new pricing structure, it seems simplifying the number of licenses offered while retaining user value is the goal.  Trying to juggle all of the feature/price factors is always difficult, no matter what the product is.

Looking at the features, it seems that Cadsoft Light and Cadsoft Standard have been rolled into Autodesk Standard, priced higher than Cadsoft Light, but cheaper than Cadsoft Standard.   Autodesk Standard has twice the board area, but the same number of layers as Cadsoft Light.

At the other end of the spectrum, the higher layer count of Cadsoft Standard has been combined with Cadsoft Professional (Ultimate) to create Autodesk Premium.  This has none of the limits.

What’s missing in these scenarios are those of us that fall right into the middle.  In the zeal to simplify the licensing, those of us that need 4-layer boards, and mid-size working area (160 x 100) have been left out.  What we need is a license somewhere between Autodesk Standard (f.k.a Light) at $100/yr and Autodesk Premium (f.k.a Premium/Ultimate) at $500/yr.

Adding a mid-level license, with more layers, 160 x 100 board area, and no auto-router would work for me.  Priced somewhere in between Standard and Premium.

Hi Brian,

I hope you're doing well. The standard is going to be getting 4 layers:

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
