Layout lost when inserting a design block

I have a design block that shows the schematic and the layout in the design block section of the control panel.  When I insert it into a new design the schematic is correct, but the layout is lost.  It comes in as a collection of components and airwires.  It looks exactly like the first creation of a board from a new schematic.

Hi @fredahlgren, 

I hope you're doing well. Did you make sure the board was open at the same time as the schematic. The only way you can preserve the layout is if the designblock is brought into a consistent board schematic pair. 

Is that what you did? If not let me know exactly what you tried to do.

Yes that was the problem.  Many is should be in a pop up warning.
