Error Pushing on Fusion360

Hi all,

i'm having issue pushing my board to Fusion360. I'm able to push a bare board but when I try to push my board i'm getting an error.

If i dont have a Source linked to my board i get this error:

Schermata 2017-11-29 alle 10.16.08.png

In my Fusion source i can see the PDF report but there arent useful data on the report:

Schermata 2017-11-29 alle 10.07.32.png

After this error if I try to push again my board i get this error:

Schermata 2017-11-29 alle 10.20.17.png

I can solve the last error if i unlink my source and the reconnect to a new fusion source, but the i get in the first error.

My board outline is closed (here a snap of a part of the board), board dimensions are 400x150mm

I too am getting this error.

Things I have tried:

  • Updated to 8.4.3
  • Log out of Fusion.
  • Reboot computer
  • Promote earlier version of board, then try to push again.
  • Update Libraries
  • Create new version of library

Nothing seems to reset fusion to accept the new push.

Hi, @GuidoIT93, @rlm611110,  thanks for reporting the issue. We had seen a similar report which was because some holes failed to translate to Fusion correctly. In that case, there is a wire composed by two arcs on the board.  Is it possible to share you brd file to us so that we have a closer look at the issue? If your design contains any sensitive data, it will still be helpful to share part of your design to us by removing the data you don't. want to public.

Thanks,

Richard

Hi @yqliu ,i have lot of slot in the board that need to be plated through slots so i designed the slot in the milling layer could it be the problem? Anyway my board is part of a project for a company so cannot upload here online but if you can contact me via mail I will be glad to send you some part of board and see if we can solve the issue.

Thanks @GuidoIT93 for the information. If some slots happen to be just two arcs, it would be the problem. I just sent you a message to ask for some part of the board.

I've sent you an email, pls check your inbox. I found that the problem coming from the DXF of the board, i've sent you it, pls check

Could be here the problem? If yes how to solve it?

Thanks lot of for sharing the dxf to me. I can reproduce the issue with your file without adding any holes. It’s really helpful for me to debug the issue. Thanks again!

I cannot make any mod in that DXF cuz is linked to mechanical design, so i need to solve this issue in some way.

Hi @GuidoIT93, we found that it's not even possible to import the dxf file into Fusion 360 directly, which means it's a bug in Fusion or Fusion is not robust to handle special dxf so it can't process the shape. We will definitely try to fix the issue in Fusion side, but it takes time and we hope this issue won't block your work. If you can't modify the dxf, do you think it's ok create a new dxf and import this new dxf (temporarily) into EAGLE as the board outline?

The problem is actually in Fusion side and the screenshot is a just rendering issue in EAGLE. I'm still trying to find out why this dxf is so special 😞

First of all thanks for fast support.

Im in the ECAD side so I cannot modify the DXF, i can talk with the MCAD guy but actually I dont know where's the problem so cannot tell him what he need to fix, the board outline as i told you is linked to mechanical spec of the final product so cannot modify it alot. If I open the DXF in Fusion360 i can see thats is closed surface so i can pull it up as you can see from the pic:

Let me know if I can do something for help you solve the bug

There are no wire arcs on the board. No slots.

The outline of the board is an arc followed by a few straight edges. .

I was able to previously push - many times (maybe 30) and use this board in an assembly as shown.

I was going to demo this ECAD - MCAD integration to a group of engineers today, so if I can resolve this problem, that would be great,

otherwise I will have to cancel.

Through much experimenting, I have narrowed this problem down to some text on the tPlace layer.

The steps to determine the source of the issue:

Make copy of board/schematic.

Delete all components  from schematic and the ground plane.

This leaves:

Outline.PNG

Go into fusion sync

Edit source

Remove Fusion Link

Close fusion sync

save design

Open Fusion Sync

Create new Fusion design

Push

Error still remains. Eagle gives "Error pushing to Fusion:" - this suggests problem not with any of the components.

Open Fusion Sync again

Edit Source

Remove Fusion Link

Close

Finally I deleted the two pieces of text on the board 'J8' and 'nRF52832' - these were on the tPlace layer.

Save

Create new Fusion design

Push

Eagle successfully pushes to fusion.

Go back to original board

Open Fusion Sync

Edit Source

Remove Fusion Link

Delete offensive "J8" and "nRF52832" text on tPlace layer.

Save

Open Fusion Sync

Create new Fusion Design

Push

Board Successfully pushes.

So issue seems to have been related to text on tPlace layer, but I could not definitively chase it down. When I added new text to tPlace layer, push then succeeds, so it is not exclusively the text on the tPlace layer.

Note also I had to remove the fusion link. SImply deleting the text on the tPlace layer and attempting to push again would fail. So once the problem occurred there was no way to get out of it without breaking the fusion link.

Finally, there was a time when I could push to fusion with the offensive tPlace text. Approximately 30 earlier pushes occurred successfully with the offensive text. Go figure.

Perhaps this sequence might help someone else should they have problems pushing to Fusion. YMMV.

Cheers.

Hi @GuidoIT93, we finally identified the root reason. In your dxf file, the two "arcs" on the right side are actually very tiny line segments. The line segments in the two red circles are so tiny that they are optimized out (incorrectly) when pushing to Fusion.

dxfarc.png

So the only fix for now is to replace the small line segments with real arcs.

Hi @rlm611110, thank you very much for the detailed information. However, we are having troubles to reproduce the issue using your steps. As you have discovered, not any text on tPlace will fail to push.  Is it possible to share your simplified file (the one that you can't push) to us?

Thanks,

Richard

My board is now just a small rectangle with "J8" in it. - this still fails to push surprisingly. Attached are zipped brd and sch  files.

If fusion is having problems with arcs, perhaps the text is made of arcs.

This text actually came from an old reference design I found here:

https://github.com/NordicPlayground/nrf5-eagle-reference-design/tree/master/nRF52832_MCU_Board

You can see the "j8' on this board as well.

Best of luck reproducing.

I just saw another new thread here: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/eagle-forum/error-pushing-to-fusion-if-center-left-right-aligned-text...

And I wondered if this might be the same issue you are seeing?

Best Regards,

Rachael

Thanks Rachael, indeed that made the problem go away.

To make it work I had to:

Remove fusion link.

Edit properties on the J8.

Change Align from Center-left to Bottom Left

Relink to fusion

Push succeeds.

And to confirm I changed text back to Center-Left and it fails to push.

And just for fun (because this is so much fun) I tried top-center and does push.

So clearly a defect in the Fusion software. So don't use center-left text.
