Hello,
I have an issue with linked fields in some dynamic blocks. I just opened a file and a majority of the linked fields have somehow changed themselves to be linked to a different block property value.
To clarify:
Normal operation: "Block 1" is a cable tag with several editable attributes. The one being used here is an ID attribute. It pulls information, via a linked field, from "Block 2" that also has an attribute called ID that is manually entered. The intent is to indicate this cable goes to "this device ID" somewhere in the drawing. Simply a reference.
What's wrong: Instead of the linked field in "Block 1" pointing to the ID attribute of "Block 2" it is pointing to another attribute in "Block 2" called PART. Ultimately, the cable tag is reflecting the model of the device instead of the unique ID that we manually assign it.
I can correct it and point it to the ID field of "Block 2" by: double clicking the block>in the popup dialogue right-clock the linked field, and select ID in the Block Reference part of this dialogue box.
So it's not completely losing the association to "Block 2", but rather losing the association to the correct reference field being the attribute ID.
Images attached for reference. This is completely frustrating. Is there a way to somehow globally correct all of these block instances and point the field of "Block 1" back to the ID attribute in one shot? I have hundreds of these tags and doing them one by one is not ideal.
I did not edit the block attributes or anything. Same block copy/pasted hundreds of times.
TIA
