Stretching hatch with number input

Hi guys.

I'm trying to make a block with an associative hatch and a linear parameter with a stretch action. Stretching the hatch works fine when using the grip. However, if I give the distance as text input in block properties, the hatch doesn't stretch. As soon as I use the grip, even if I just snap to the current position, the hatch stretches as well.

Any thoughts on why this is?

Here it works well - both as test block in your dwg and as inserted block reference in a new dwg file.

>> click <<

(testet in ACAD 2020.1.3)

... and also if never grabbed the grip:

>>click<<

Tell us more what you're doing ...

If I change the distance parameter value using dynamic input or in the properties palette, the hatch adjusts immediately.  I cannot replicate the issue.  I am using ACA 2018.

That is strange... I'm using CD3 2020.1.1. It seems the only action that makes the hatch follow the boundary is using the grip. Could it be that some sysvar setting is causing this?

I have solved my current problem by not including the hatch in my block. It turned out putting the hatches in a tool palette and applying them after generating the boundaries was almost as fast and a lot more flexible (my finished block has several layers with varying hatches). But I'm still somewhat curious about why this happens, and a solution could come in handy in the future!  If anyone comes across an answer, I'd be glad to hear it.

Thank you @j.palmeL29YX and @Libbya for helping!

Often I read in this (and other) forum(s), that some functionalities, which work fine in plain AutoCAD, cause difficulties in Civil. Civil seems to have some bugs. But since I don't have and don't know Civil, I can't verify that in detail.

(I know, this doesn't help you, it is only the try of an explantion).

Perhaps you should ask in the >>Civil-Forum<<.

Hi,

I assume you are missing some updates. The latest is 2020.4(not sure though) Try updating to the latest version available and see if the problem goes away🙂
