Polygon Offset Lock

Hello,

I’ve been trying the different parameters, actions and constraints but have not found a solution to maintain a defined offset on a polygon.

I created a rectangle that can be stretched on the X and Y axis, is simple and does the job.
The problem comes when we have to use different angles (other than 90*). At that point the two polygons behave differently, and the 1" offset is lost.

Can you please help, attached is the file with the original dynamic block (left),  to the right is the block that I’ve been working with, below it is how it should look.

Hi esanchez,

I saw your topic yesturday. played with the block a bit but culdn't do anything. I has an idea after i went home. I tried my idea today.

It is not fully done. I have problem with corner lines. you may be able to work it out yourself. Please see attached and check the block called new. You can get idea and continue from there.

Circles I added are in defpoints layer and won't be printed.

If you manage to make what you want, please share it as I am interested to see what is the solution.

Kind Regards,

Behzad

Behzad,
Thank you for your help, your block has an interesting solution to the offset issue, however the block reacts in unpredictable ways, depending on which grip I move first, and sometimes it locks itself. I will keep playing with them and post as soon as I get different results.

Regards,
Edgar

chauhuh,
Your second block is almost perfect to what we are trying to achieve, can you please explain how it was done?

I cheated?

I used a multiline to create the rectangle and it's offset geometry. From there I used a polar stretch set from the geometric center of the rectangle to each corner of the box.

Thanks.
