Need Help with Dyn Block XY Param with Stretch and Lookup

Hi All,

I've attached my "work of art" so you can see what I have so far.

The visibility grip allows display of different profiles and this works fine.

I added the XY Param and associated the Stretch action to it and believe they are correct.

I added a LookUp table with the different input values with their Lookup properties for the XY Param but how do I link this table with the stretch/XY so that selection of a lookup property activates the stretch?

Please help.

When a lookup changes the dimensions of a parameter, the parameter basepoint remains constant.  It looks like you associated the two stretch actions with the XY parameter's base point.  Because of this, when the lookup changes the XY parameter distances, nothing gets stretched because the lookup does not move the base point.  If you select the XY parameter, turn on 1 grip, and add a stretch action associated with that grip, you will then see the lookup is working fine and linked to the XY parameter.

Thanks for your time and input. I applied (I think) your suggestion and it certainly got me closer but still not quite.

If you try the new, attached dyn blk, you'll see it's kinda like a diagonal stretch and not orthogonal as I want. This is a couple pans formed out of a sheet of metal. The pans can be six different depths so the lookup param lists these diff depths and the stretch is supposed to stretch the left side of the pan out orthogonally to the left and stretch the bottom down orthogonally down...

Maybe I should you two, independent, linear params??

You could do two linear parameters or you could select the individual stretch actions, go to properties and change the appropriate one to be Y Only and the other to be X Only.

I must be missing something, it's still not working. I wrote down some steps at the office but I'm working from home now. In any case, I don't remember going through all this. I'll play some more and check out the steps I wrote down on Tuesday when I'm back in the office.

Thanks so much for the visual. I was indeed doing it wrong as I was not getting the lightning bolt symbols. I have to run now but will certainly give this another run tomorrow and I'm sure it will work.

The system variable BACTIONBARMODE switches the way the actions are displayed and whether or not they can be added to the selection set of other actions.  That may not be your issue.  I suspect you just need to change the appropriate stretch action property to 'Y distance' and the other to 'X distance' and it will work fine.
