Layer defined attribute block

@Libbya, I am trying to create a block for use of displaying standard layers in drawings.  This block worked once upon a time, but has since been exploded and I cannot seem to make it work again.  I have attached the file.  What I am trying to accomplish is creating a block that shows a line below the attribute text, which can then be placed on any given layer, and the attribute text will automatically change to the name of the layer it is on.  I have created the attribute within the block and set it to a field name of object with property of layer but it just wont seem to update when assigned to different layers.  What am I missing?

I honestly don't know.  It all looks to be set up correctly.  In looking at the block and trying to recreate, it seems to be a bug with the layer field.  The other various blockplaceholder fields seem to work fine.  Interestingly enough, the block will display the correct layer for me when a new insertion is made, but it will not update after that.  Weird.  Wish I had more to offer.

Thanks for looking at it @Libbya.  Anyone else have any thoughts on why it wont work?

I figured this one out and its a weird one.

Rename the attribute to anything other than LAYER.

Well done,

Maybe an idea to try and get together a few points for a pinned topic - heres a start

1) keep tag names unique

2) don't use command names for tags

3) whenever possible use layer "0" for items inside a block
