Inserting blocks in cursor position

I am currently working with a friend in a electrical plant, which consists basically in adding blocks to it. When I was working on my own, I was able to select, copy and paste blocks wherever my cursor was / the coordinates were automatically filled. Since my coworker joined me and started editing on files on his computer, I have been unable to add blocks as I was doing before. AutoCAD asks for coordinates and doens't allow me to add blocks to my cursor position. This problem delays us a LOT, since we have, each, more than 2500 blocks to add.

Thank you!

Are you using the INSERT command?  If so, then I imagine that under 'Insertion Point' the check box for 'Specify On-screen' is no longer checked.
