Editable complex Polylines inside a block

Hi everyone!

As lighting designer, I use polylines to represent linear light sources such as LED strips.

The length of each polyline has then to be counted, that's when the Field attribute comes in handy.

Trouble is, when the poly has more than one line (corners...).

Is there a way to handle a complex polyline, using grips and handles, within a block without having to edit each block in the Editor, and without losing its dynamic attributes?

Thanks!

Unfortunately no you can't make a simple polyline complex in a block.

HOWEVER if you draw a polyline normally in modelspace you can still put a field on it giving it's length of find the length in the properties(Ctrl+1) menu. See the highlighting in the attached image

Thanks hwalker!

I guess I could follow your advice and count them with data extraction as long as I keep them on the same layer.

Then I've got another question: is there a way to attach an attribute to these polys? they would still need to have a tag as in my previous picture...(Mtexts are not reliable)

Unfortunately I don't think it's possible.

You can insert a field code next to the polyline which is the length of the polyline
