Dynamic Block with Attributes and Actions

Hey Everyone,

I just learned (the other day) about Dynamic Blocks.  Wow.  Pretty cool.

I can see the possibilities, but I'm uncertain as to how to correctly do some of the things I need.  Perhaps, someone on here can provide some instruction for me?

Here are some of the things I'm looking to accomplish and have addressed:

  • I cant assign a move action to my Mon attribute and get the ellipse and attribute to move.  I'd like this so when the block is inserted, I can move the attribute and ellipse wherever I need them (together).  This would be independent of the rest of the objects (i.e., wipeout, lines, attributes and text inside the circle).
  • I'd like to be able to rotate the entire monument symbol about the N/F & BOB symbol.  I watched a video that showed adding two (2) actions to one parameter.  Is this possible?  If only one at a time is possible, that's fine, but how do I get both the text and attributes inside to not rotate - in other words, always be upright for readability?
  • Can I get the monument information (within the circle), the wipeout, and dashed lines bounding the wipeout to stretch, rotate and move without changing text/attribute inside?
  • I'd like for the lines bounding the wipeout to stay attached to the circle (tangent to it) when rotation happens.

I realize that a couple of these inquiries are a little redundant, but I just want to make sure I cover all my questions.

Attached please find my block for reference.  I've tried (in other drawings) to add all kinds of visibility states, lookups, actions and cant seem to get the results I'm looking for.  Again, I just discovered Dynamic Blocks a couple day ago, so please, take it easy on me.

I honestly appreciate any help in the right direction with this.  Thanks!

  • Dynamic actions will not work on attributes unless you have their property lock position = yes.
  • Yes, you can add multiple actions to a single parameter.  If you want an item to rotate around a point but remain 'vertical' (e.g. text), then add a chained point/move to the item and rotate that point/move.
  • Yes.
  • Keeping lines tangent to a circle while also stretching their length is problematic for dynamic actions.  That may require constraints, which combined with dynamic actions can be a can of worms.

You posted block has no parameters/actions added.  Give it a go and repost it when you get stuck and have further questions.
