Dynamic Block length parameter or system variable

Hi

I hope someone can help.  I've used some basic dynamic blocks for a few years now but all of a sudden they dont work like they used to despite the files being the same.

I have attached a typical patio door plan and if I select the stretch arrow I used to be able to just type in the size of the doors I wanted and it would stretch the doors to that length however, now it ADDS the dimension I type to the length of the default block.

So if the default block door is already 900mm and I want it 1000mm I would normally just type 1000 and it would then measure 1000mm however, something has changed I suspect with a system variable so if I type 1000 it will measure 1900mm!!

If I open the file in an older version of autocad it works as normal so if someone knows which system variable this is please let me know.

Many thanks

Have you tried changing the width by typing it in Block Properties? I am not sure what system variable would be changing this?

Linear parameters work like that. If you grab them and type a length they will add the length to what is already they. You can either change the parameter to a polar parameter which will change to the correct length or change the length in the properties palette

Thanks for your help, I still don't fully understand though as it doesn't work like you say in my older version of AutoCAD.  I simply type the dimension I want and it changes it to that length rather than adding to the length.

Its exactly the same dynamic block too so I suspect a system variable is different somewhere........

What current Autocad version did you use to create the block? What version are you trying to use it in?

No still no joy.

When I open it in the older version and click the stretch arrow, I get a box with the default size of the door but in 2020 if I select the arrow it highlights it but then I have to move the crosshairs in the direction I want to extend the door and then type the dimension (which still adds to the default size) plus the small box with the default dimension is not there.

Ok I found the solution

The DYNMODE system variable was switched off.

Thanks for your help anyway 😉👍

Really good. I have never made any changes to that variable but I know now. Thanks!
