dynamic block insertion point

Hi

I cant seem to be able to move the insertion point on this block to bottom left corner of block.  It is quite a distance from my block at the moment.  I have searched and tried methods but doesnt seem to work.

I have read you can move the block in block editor to the insertion point but then the Actions Icons and selection frames are left behind! No one explains how to prevent or fix this.

Could someone please have a look at this block plz.  Need basic instruction, I am a novice at this.  Smiley Embarassed

Hi,

Just enter the block -> select all ->move

After that select the stretch action(not parameter). Wen you select the action a doted rectangle will apear, it's the "area" in wich the stretch action works.

Move (by the corners) the rectange accordingly.

Here's your block. But try to do it yourself.

Hi

And thanks again.  Smiley Happy    I thought you might be able to move dotted rectangle without having to stretch it over.

Hi Imui

Insertion point is great.  How do I link it to flip and stretch. When I flip and stretch, change width of door, things start falling apart, and stretch door width doesnt work correctly.  And the door moves off insertion point.

I thought this was going to be simple, but I think I am obviously missing a link between flip and stretch.

I inserted a basepoint parameter at 0,0.  In my opinion if you use a basepoint parameter it should pretty much always be placed at 0,0 and the linework adjusted if necessary.  I then inserted a gripless chained point move that moves the basepoint.  I included the point parameter in the flip action selection set.  The reason for the chained point move is that if you include the base point directly in move/flip/stretch selection sets it can cause other issues.

Hi Libbya

Thanks for the explanation. I will try and follow these instructions later and see how I get on.  Can you attach the example so I can see what you did.

Thanks

Hi Libbya

Ok I see what you did.  Not sure if I could of worked out that I needed a basepoint and a point but it works fine.

Thanks for your help.  Can I add a second 'solution found' to the one thread. Smiley Tongue

Same thing with this block.

However, I would like to use a block with the insert point ALWAYS at the lower left (or right) corner

This helped me with the issue I had. I added two Point Parameters to a window plan block and couldn't get the insertion point to move with the block. Per this post, I added one Basepoint Parameter where the insertion point is for the block and then modified the Selection Sets actions for each one of the Point Parameters so each was associated to the new Basepoint Parameter, separately. Now the Dynamic Block works how I intended it to. Thank you for the information.
