Dimension in Dynamic Block

Hi Guys,

I want to make a dynamic block of a 3D rectangular prism which is completely dimensioned upon insert (i.e. I dont want the user to have to manually dimension each one.)

Using stretches I want the block to be resized (length, width and height) including changing the dimension.

I feel like I am almost there (see attached, with height the only variable at this stage) except the dimension text does not stay centered when the block is stretched.

Any ideas??

Thanks in advance

Okay so I think I have solved my own issue, its a pretty dirty solution but it works so far.

I have added 3 actions to the dimension within the block.

  1. A stretch upwards at a distance multiplier of 0.5
  2. a stretch downwards at a distance multiplier of -0.5 and the
  3. I have then moved the entire dimension up by 0.5 distance multiplier

This keeps the text centered within the dimension.

See attached block for your interest.

Can anyone think of a better way to solve this?

Thanks

Interesting block, it looks good. As far as your dims go, if you make sure that the dim is assosiated to the geometry then there shouldn't be the need to include it in the selection set when you stretch the block, it should automatically resize with the block as the block is stretched.
