Controlling Block Visibility with custom drawing properties

Is there a way to allow for a block visibility state to be managed by a drawing property? We use an external program to manage properties and the question was floated as to whether we could use that to control the state of a block.

Is this even a possibility? or am I barking up the wrong tree?

The visibility can be changed through the properties palette when a block(s) is selected.

I'm aware and I defnitely concede that's the simplest solution but I didn't know if there was anything more dynamic than that I could use. We use an external PLM program where we manage these characteristics that are then applied to the document. There are a series of blocks we add to our drawings at certain stages of approval that we are combining into one dynamic block, and we wanted to see if we could make changing between them automatic. It's already company policy to update a field in the external program that is passed to the AutoCAD drawing as a custom drawing property, so I was curious if we could remove a step in needing to manually change block states by reading that property.
