Can I have one block with multiple layers?

Hi,

I am just wondering I can get help here.

While I am making a dynamic block, I got an issue.

the picture below is the block I made.

QQ.PNG

I only want to see red and yellow letters when I print it out.

The gray color is not supposed to be shown when I print it.

But the issue is I can only choose one layer for each block as far as I know.

So I can either show them all or not.

So, I am just wondering if I can choose a different layer for each objects in one block.

Thank you.

Yes, you can have items within a block on whatever layer you like.  The block itself will go on a layer also.  If any items within the block are set to layer 0, then any of their properties set to bylayer will adopt the properties of the layer the block is on.  If the layer the block is on is ON, then the block will show.  If the layer the block is on is turned OFF, then the entire block will be turned off.  If the block is on and there are items within the block on various layers that are ON/OFF, then those items will turn ON/OFF accordingly.  The same is true for items set to print.  Hope that helps.

See the following screencast.  Notice that the square is set to the A-medium layer within the block.  The Circle is set to the 0 layer and the triangle is set to Defpoints.  Defpoints does not plot, so the triangle does not show up in the plot window.  The circle changes to the properties of the layer the block is on.  The properties of the square remain consistent regardless of what layer the block is on.  Hope that helps.
