Block Properties Table in AutoCAD LT

I have been looking at various block properties threads and using different guides and videos to try and create one, however I have suddenly realised why I am unable to do certain things - due to using AutoCAD LT.

In the tutorials it mentions a user parameter, which I presume is a custom parameter that allows you to create your own column in the block properties table... It seems from my research that this is what I need, as I have many visibility states that do not actually utilise any action parameters such as stretch, move, etc. so therefore I am only able to choose "Visibility" as a column in the table.

Having seen example files others have posted, I am able to open and explore their version which leads me to think I should surely be able to create my own version in LT if I can open theirs? These example files are close matches to what I want, due to having only a visibility action in the block, but rather than edit my own block into that one I'd rather create my own from scratch.

Thanks in advance

A property table is used when you have several parameters and wish to make a sort of multiple choice list for various combinations of the two (or more). If all you have is a single visibility (with various states) then it sounds as if what you need is a lookup table, which is slightly different to a block property table.

Nice one,  thanks. I've looked into this such as in the Autodesk help section, but that just lists one step as "complete the table as necessary", which is a vague step I'm finding common with the Autodesk help pages that come up (being somewhat of an amateur beyond a certain point on AutoCAD).

When I've tried both options, the interface for Block Properties Table looks easier to use which is why I presumed I'd need this option, plus when I've seen samples others have created, they've used a block prop table. After reading a little into look up tables (whilst I'm probably wrong), it seems to me that it needs to be able to choose from various parameters used, when I've only used visibility.

To put it into a hopefully simple example of what I wish to end up with, is rather than listing 20 visibility states together, having the list pop up that drops down into sub sections so I can whittle it down to 4 sections of 5 if that makes sense. So choosing from colours Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, then being able to choose from 5 shapes in each section.

craigMitchell90,

Take a look at this block I created using AutoCAD LT2010. I believe this is exactly what you're looking for. You just have to make the attributes invisible like I did in "white color" for my block.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Yeah that's pretty much spot on by the looks of it. I've take that idea, and added attributes to my block which are set to invisible, and it's allowed me to enter these as columns in the Block Properties table, and checking it finds no errors too.

One thing though is that I can't seem to have the drop down arrow appear, I've still got the visibility there for now and will set that to zero grips once the block table has an arrow, but for now can't find a way to give the table it's own grip. This is with the block prop table already existing in the block, so it's more a case of how do I either remove the table to create a new one or add the grip back to the existing table.

Post your block, and we can take a look at it for you.

Not to worry, I decided to just create a new block so I could start from scratch with everything. I presume with the existing block I'd created the block properties table without a grip and couldn't select the table afterwards to edit it and give it a grip.

Will mark this as solved anyway, thanks!!

I've noticed clicking the center of the block properties table symbol will not open the table, but clicking on the outside edge will open the table. Is this what you mean?

Nah, what was happening is that the block properties table didn't have an icon in my block at all, so I couldn't click it to bring up properties to allow me to set a grip which I guess previously I hadn't done when first trying the table. All I could do was click the table in the actions list and bring up the table itself to input things. So I couldn't remove the table nor could I change its' settings, so creating a new block seemed easier as that way I could set the grip straight away and the drop down could then show/work properly.
