Block name visability

I have a block that looks like the below screen shot in a base file.

But it looks like the below in the sheet that is xrefing it.  There's extra text that's showing up.  Even when I open the block to edit, that extra text doesn't even appear.

Need help either finding that text in the block itself to remove, or disable it in the sheet it's showing up in.  Thanks.

Check layers that are turned off or frozen in the host file.  Check that annotative objects aren't turned off in one file and turned on in the other.  

Other than wild guesses, how do you expect anyone to be able to help without being able to see the files firsthand?  Attach the files.
