block help

Hi,

I'm trying to create a simple block that is representating a shelf to store products on. I'm new to CAD but I generally have the hang of it besides defining a definition for this block. Is there anyway I can add an attriubute (or maybe formula under insert field) to it that allows the block to scale proportionaly?

For example: I would want it to increase in one dimension to make it a different length but still have the same width.

I've created the block already and added some basic annotations that include the category and capacity but I just need help adding a scaling function, or if there is an easier way to place a block and have contorl over what version of that block to place in my drawing.

thanks for any help

Dynamic blocks are specifically for modifying a block in specific ways.  For modifying the linework, you would use either dynamic parameters and actions or parametric constraints.  I vastly prefer the dynamic parameters and actions.  You can definitely do exactly what you describe very easily.  You will want to watch some free youtube videos on dynamic block basics.
