Defaulting a plotter\This plotter configuration cannot be used

we are running true view 2019 on a citrix 2012 server. when users go to plot, they get hit with an error about an HP 1300 PCL 5.pc3 file that's missing.. I don't know how to default it to anything else.

they get this error

"This plotter configuration cannot be used for one of these reasons: the driver cannot be found, the device cannot be found, or the driver has a problem. The none plot device has been substituted."

is there a way to default the printer to something specific? im trying to default as much as possible.

plotter choices are saved inside each DWG file in each tab, that is by design for 30+ years now, there is no built-in override option in the free viewer.

If the DWG files are created locally and your servers have that HP1300...pc3 file available to the AutoCAD team, then you can make it available to the DWGTRUEVIEW team by adding that folder location to OPTIONS command's FILE tab, underthe PRINTER SUPPORT FILE PATH section's PRINTER CONFIGURATION SEARCH PATH.

that's what I thought. previously they used the OLD voloview program. unfortunately that program no longer functions on server 2012, which is where my citrix environment sits. I had to switch to trueview to give them the ability to view the files. it was not until we got that installed we were faced with this issue. the only way I got around the error was to make an HP 1300 printer on the server, so the driver was there. they still have to pull down the previous plot layout so it will print to an actual printer. in voloview, they just clicked print and boom.. printed zero prompts.

DWGTRUEVIEW is basically AutoCAD with all the writing tools missing: so it acts like AutoCAD in every way.

So you need to set it up as if you are setting up AutoCAD: you need to add paths to all of your font folders, PC3 file plotter files, plot style table folders and so much more.

Then it should behave as you wish it as long as all the files are from your own AutoCAD users.
