AutoCAD 2017 files are "write protected" and "not valid"

Hello!

I've recently run into some troubles using AutoCAD 2017 Educational Version. When I try to open recent files, I get a dialogue box saying that the file is "not valid". Additionally, when I open older ones, they come up with a lock icon next to the file name, and when I try to save them, it says they are "write protected". I have tried some of the previously posted suggestions and saved them under different names, as well as right clicking the files in explorer, going to "properties" and making sure the files are not "read only". I think the problem originated when I tried to set up the autosave function under the command "wautosave" and "savetime". I set the save time to 10 and wautosave to 1. I've since tried to undo both commands, but to no avail. Any input is much appreciated. Thank you!

You are posting in the free viewer software forum: are you having trouble with the viewer? If not, ask the admin to move your post.

"not valid" means you have a dead file.
"write protected" "read only" mean your files are either locked or in locked folders: you've made no attempt at explaining where these files actually reside.

Tell us more or start posting DWG files in the new forum you report in.

Following up on your thread, were you able to find a solution or a workaround?

I think you posted accidently on the wrong board. I'd be happy to try and help.

Please post back in the thread with updates.

Thanks.
