Anyone else suffer with the ability to zoom on a trackpad changing from spreading two fingers to swiping up and down with two fingers? When that happens I lose the ability to scroll around the drawing space by dragging two fingers.

That shouldn't be happening. I just tested it and the behavior is correct: pinch to zoom and 2 finger swipe to pan. If you pinch and swipe at the same time you may get both behaviors and it may be a bit weird.
