I have a Dell XPS 15 with 4K screen - when I open Slicer the icons and toolbars are tiny. Same thing used to happen in F360 then disappeared.
I also run both on my imac retina with no problems.
Is this me or an easy fix?
Thank you!

Hi ollie301,
It's a fix that will require some time. Let me explain the reason. Every app needs to have all icons at different levels of resolution in order to work well on certain resolutions. In order for Slicer to have normal size icons on 4k resolution, we need to rebuild all icons at higher res and create some logic that displays these when the system detects really high resolution. Most probably Fusion already did this work, and this is the reason the problem disappeared.
Let us get some more feedback about which resolutions are more frequent, and we'll try to take some action on this.
Thanks for reaching out!
Same problem here!
Really frustrating as I need to use Slicer for uni. I bought a new laptop that would be up to the job, but it has a 4k display and I now I can barely see the icons or read the menus.
I hope that fix is close.
I hear you. While this is not fixed, can you tweak resolution on your side to make icons work better? I can imagine that many apps should have a similar problem if they don't have a set of icons for 4k.
I have this problem on a Surface Book 2 . Is there a solution for this now? I need a magnifying glass!
Thanks, J 🙂
Hi J.
I hear you 🙂
The thing is that we right now don't have a team supporting Slicer, and we'd need some developer time to create new versions of all icons for higher resolutions.
Sorry about that. Maybe you can tweak resolution on your side?
Just curious,
which are the parts that you mostly use? which features? which output are you looking for? is that CNC, laser cutting?
That may help figure out the path of the solution (regardless if it lives in Slicer itself or gets moved elsewhere)
Laser cutting! Please keep this app updated and give it more support as it is crucial for teaching 3D modelling, laser cutting + 3d printing!
Hi,
Slicer is basically unsupported at this time. There are no plans of extra work on the product, nor are there plans for fixing existing issues or any upcoming issues due to OS or hardware changes.
Anyone that needs to get the app, the last build is hosted in this location:
You can always use the app standalone and then import the dxf files into Fusion 360, where you can leverage the many tools for additive and subtractive manufacturing.
