"Inset" faces selection and other things

Not applicable

Hi ,

I'm from 3dsmax and i've some troubles with fusion 360, i'd like to make an "inset" (like the 3dsmax fonction) of some selected faces (see the picture below) but i can't figure out how to do that simply ... i've try with the offset function , but it just do the modification on the top or bottom, not the all selection 😞 It kind of work with a sweep profil but it's not very handy.  Same thing if i want to extrude this face selection to a new body .. How do you guys do that kind of stuff ?

In fact i try to replicate the same simple shape as in this video (at 2:50) :

Thanks

Hi hydeman,

There is no "Easy" Way to do that like in Max and Maya......although there should be.....

The way you have to do it now is with a sketch in the middle of the object, then do an extruded cut for the inset. I'm headed home so I can't do a short video now but if someone doesn't answer this by the time I get home I will make one to show you. Sorry I couldn't be of more help right now.

Hi Hydeman,

Here's one way to do what you are asking. Here's a screencast (no sound): http://autode.sk/1I4BC9F

Guys, please make this possible! It has been two years already. That's basically one click function inside Moi3D. Fusion360 is too powerful to not have it already.

@moth3r

It was requested multiple times and AD knows about it.

This is another area where T-Splines has to catch up as insert face is a standard tool to have.
