position of object

Is there a way to get position of an object ( Bounds (overall size) and position on grid without going thru alot of clicks??)

Also is the a way to put WCS on screen permanently

Is it possible to clarify this statment some? It sounds like you are asking for

  • the overal. dimensions of the bounding box of the design
  • the X, Y, Z coordinates of the bounding box of the design

Is that correct?

Curerntly, I'm not sure how to obtain a bounding box size or coordinates (other than to manually draw a box). However, there may be some functions in the API that might be able to provide this information. I can ask around and see what I find out.

The closest thing to a global coordinate system indicator is the default Work planes/axis/origin. If you enable the top level work features the color of the axis correspond with the axis.

Think the colors of the rainbow, Roy G Biv:

Red = X axis

Green = Y axis

Blue = Z axis

I note there is a global coordinate system indicator located in the Simulation Environment. On trick may be to switch to that environment temporarily to get your orientation down.

I went looking through the Fusion 360 Ideastation for a similar request (website below).  However, I was unable to find a enhancement request that matched. You may consider suggesting an idea in the Fusion 360 Ideastation, below.

I hope this helps. I will circle back when I have more information about the bounding box.

Thank You,

Thanks much for the reply Yes basically a bounding box size--- You can get it, if done thru cam on a setup will give total box size Was just hoping maybe simpler way.. Thanks again Roger

I found an API object acll BrepBody.boundingBox Property I think that could be used to obtain this information.

I'll keep digging to see if I can find an example.

I see that there has been some discussion in this post.
