Is the view cube not working for anyone else?

The cube is displaying but is not responsive to the cursor in any way.

What OS are you using, Windows or Mac? Is there a series of steps that causes this to happen? I note that the view cube seems to rotate normally for me. Does restarting the application or the computer help to resolve the issue?

Thanks,

OS X. I closed and reopened the app three times and then it started working
again. It did happen before so I'm expecting it to happen again at some
point.

Is the viewcube issue ongoing?

Thanks,

This view viewcube issue is ongoing for me. Restarting fusion ussually resolves the issue, but it happens all the time.

On the Mac side of things, when the view cube stops working, I'll place two fingers on the trackpad and move them together around the trackpad to pan around the 3D environment. Typically, this tends to "wake up" the view cube.

Wow, 2018 and I have the same issue - found this thread and the workaround fixed my issue, but COME ON Fusion SW team, you have got to close out bugs like this

I also have the dead view cube problem on my MacBook Pro. Panning around seems to wake the thing up again. Thanks for the hint.

Can everyone experiencing this consider the following and let us know your results?

It seems that the dock in Mac, when it overlaps the Fusion window, can steal focus from selections and perhaps the view cube.

Discussed here:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-support/view-cube-becomes-deactivated/m-p/7771733#M20574

What we need is confirmation about what is causing your loss of view cube, to ensure we are tracking all possible causes.

Can you try these steps, and then see if your view cube becomes disabled exactly as you have experienced?

  1. Make sure your Mac dock is set at the bottom of the screen and to hide when not in use.
  2. Open Fusion 360 and pull the Window down very close to the bottom of the screen (so it will be covered when the dock is shown).
  3. Make a few clicks in Fusion 360.
  4. Hide the Fusion window with the CMD+H keyboard shortcut.
  5. Make a couple of clicks in any other application.
  6. Hover over the dock to show the Fusion 360 icon and click it.

Please let us know what you find.

We are working to fix the problem, such that the steps above will NOT affect Fusion selections or UI.

Thanks,

Hi Phil,

Thanks for looking into this issue.  I used the steps you outlined, but did not experience the view cube issue, though I have had it happen before.

Thanks for checking. This may be another case of partial focus loss. If you can nail down any steps or factors that may cause this, please post here. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Hi Phil,

I'll certainly keep my eyes open for a repeatable workflow to make this issue occur, but I to date it has been elusive.

FWIW I've been having the view cube refuse focus without the involvement on the mac dock. Unfortunately I haven't been able come up with a repeatable sequence that causes it to happen but I'll keep looking.

I regularly have this issue here as well. And I think for me this constantly happens when I stop a sketch. The the view cube does not react anymore but is still visible. But the home icon is hidden (in most cases).

I then pan around switch tabs click some other thing and get it to work again – most of the time or quit and restart Fusion.

I don't think the Dock is involved here, as it is at the bottom and I do not interact with it while I stop the sketch. I'm on a 27'' iMac.

Yep still happening. Nothing to do with dock or 'focus'. zoom in / out with track pad 'fixes' it.

Only happens returning from sketch mode for me. Should definitely be fixed by now.

Has this issue been fixed? I am still having the problem, the two-finger pan doesn't fix it. It is pretty unfortunate that the Fusion 360 Team can't get basic UI elements functioning.

Hi,

Thanks for asking. The answer is no. We cannot reproduce it and thus cannot debug and fix it. As you might have read in the above thread, there doesn't seem to be a reliable way to reproduce it. Some people reported it happening after finishing sketch, which I've done thousands of times trying to reproduce this bug, and still no luck for me.

Since you seem to have this issue regularly, can you share with me what your steps are to reproduce it? I'm happy to bring the case to development if it's reproducible.

While we are here, my request is for anyone who regularly gets this problem to respond with:

1. What macOS version you are using.

2. What workflow usually produces this effect, i.e. what you did immediately prior to the effect beginning.

Thanks,
