I am trying to make a scroll shaped part

I am trying to make a scroll shaped part and it seems to take way to much time and looks kinda choppy when I am done. Does anyone have any ideas on how to simplify this. I am currently using the loft feature to make the scroll. that means calculating the points my self and drawing them into sketches and doing that every 45 decs. I know that every 22.5 dec would be way better quality but every 45 is a little faster. Any ideas, advise, or help would be awesome. I can make a video to show what I am trying to make once I am finished. That may take a while, so I guess I will keep on keeping on.

Do you mean scroll as in an Archimedean spiral like you would find in a scroll compressor?

Yep that is what I am trying to make. The housing uses the scroll on the outside. It just looks choppy to me.

Here's something that might work.

  • I first created a Coil feature and switched it to a sprial to the inside of that line.
  • Then created a sketch and projected the spiral surface seam.
  • In the browser under bodies, right click on the spiral body and select 'remove'
  • I created a plane along patch at the end of the spiral line
  • Then a skech on the plane of the profile of the scroll
  • Now sweep the profile along the spiral path.
