Fusion 360 Simulation error

Hello, I have been trying to do simple simulations but I always get the 2 following errors.

-Test post v0: Study 1: - Static Stress: Error: Result - Result File Failed To Open

-Test post v0: Study 1: - Static Stress: Error: An error occurred while solving the model.

I have taken a beam in STEP file exported from Inventor.

I created 2 flat spots at each ends to place a constraint and 1 on the other side on centre to place a load of 200lbs. it runs the mesh, starts solving then shows errors.

I have attached

edid: I also try to put force downward on the axis of a shaft and I get the same error.

@Anonymous Welcome to the Fusion 360 forums!  I've sent a note to our Sim experts to help troubleshoot, we'll respond to this thread once they review.

Hi patcbernard,

Can you please attach an image that would explain us how you have constrained and loaded the model. Thanks!

Hi PatcBernard,

I could solve or your step file.

This is a pretty simple model/study that fails for you..Looks like nothing succeeds?

This could be a permissions issue...can you please attach the diagnostic file to this thread? Thanks!Screen Shot 2016-01-13 at 4.57.38 PM.png the diagnostic file?

Hello, thanks for the help, it still does it, I changed my contrstaint and force like you hade and still dosent work

the Lof File and the Study Report is attached.

I'm thinking, if this is all cloud services, if I'm on a clients server and he has some kind of firewall or some sort of IT guru magic, could this conflic with the simulation, or is the simulation all hapening localy on my computer?

Thanks for the help!! 🙂

I un-install, made sure every autodesk updates were done, and re installed and it works.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Glad it worked.

For the current release all Solves are done locally. So, it surely looked like a local systemic issue.

Let us know if you have any further questions, updates or feedback.

Happy Trails!,

Sorry to jump on the post, I had the same problem and made the above solution (clean uninstall then re-installed) it worked once but after closing the client and opening it again it stopped  working, and I'm getting the same error:

Trial v0: Study 1 - Static Stress: Error: Result - Result File Failed To Open
Trial v0: Study 1 - Static Stress: Error: An error occurred while solving the model.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had to restore my computer yesterday, when I reinstalled all my autodesk software, fusion 360 was giving me that same error. I uninstalled and now I cant reinstall it. it gives me this error at 6% installed.

"[Errno 13] Permission denied:'\\\\?

\\C:\\Users\\...\\...\\...webdeploy\\shared\\AIRMAX\\BB15.9_1214\\WIN64\\AdCoreUnits-15.dll'

....log...

etc..

"

Now this is not a error that is related to this thread,

also I probably have many updates to do before I can assume its a real issue. (even tho it was already installed once after the restore)

Thought I would share anyway.

From the error message, it seems that there is an issue with permissions while attempting to read/write, edit, or delete a DLL file located in the webdeploy folder. One thing you may want to try is to browse to"

C:\users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Autodesk

Note that this is a hidden directory by default so you may have to show hidden drive, files and folders to access it.

In the Autodesk directory, try deleting the webdeploy folder. After deleting the webdeploy folder, try to re-install.

If that doesn't work, the the best bet is to perform a clean unistall (see below link for full instructions.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How...

Next, install fresh by downloading the installer from the below website.

http://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/overview

I hope that suggestion helps. Let us know if you have any quesitons.

Hi Nathan,

Thanks for your rapid reply, I've already tried uninstalling and re-installing as I've said. After tinkering around I've found that I've to run as administrator to make the simulation work, so I just right click the Fusion icon and select run as admin. I've tried it multiple times and the simulation only works when I run as admin otherwise the error appears. I thought that this solution might be of use for anyone facing this problem. Thanks again.

Best Regards,

Ahmed

6-day newbie, but Modal Frequency analysis worked several times without error. Then simulation failed with error msg below, perhaps because I'm using trial version. Any thoughts?

Thank you.

Error Log (partial)

Summary:
Error: INVALID LICENSE FOR ANALYSIS, TRANSLATOR, OR FEATURE TYPE
Cause : An analysis, translator, or feature type was specified that is not licensed or currently
supported.
Action : Either update your license, or select a different analysis, translator or feature type, or
set the LICENSECODE Model Initialization directive to THFK.
Error: Solver Error
Error: An error occurred while solving the model.

@Anonymous Thanks for letting us know. You should have full access on a trial to all of the solvers. Can you try the following?

1. Open the design in questions

2. Make a cosmetic change (like appearance) to "dirty" the file

3. Save a new version of the design

4. Open and retest the simulation

If that doesn't help, is it possible to share the design here?

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Thank you for the prompt reply. Simulation Modal Analysis works now—what I did:
Shut down F360 and restart it.
Loaded earlier version of file.
In Settings, E, noticed that solve had somehow got switched to “Cloud” so I switched it back to “Local”.

I don’t understand all the parameters under Settings, E. Haven’t found those yet in the Help files.

Thanks for the videos. They do help but some of the commands are executed very fast and without verbal labeling. Suggest Mouseposé on Mac to highlight the mouse clicks. [https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mousepos%C3%A9/id405904955?mt=12 ]

When selecting the plane to model on, could we have a tooltip of some kind when hovering over the plane selectors? It’s confusing because Y-axis is vertical, maybe because of Solidworks. Everywhere else Z-axis is vertical. Haven’t imported any CAD files yet but they will probably come in with the wrong axis vertical. Maybe F360 has an option for the imported file’s Z-axis to switch to F360’s Y-axis.

So far I like F360 and the subscription plan much better than my brief and expensive encounter with SW. Will do either monthly or annual Standard F360 subscription when my trial expires. I need modal HZ analysis of bell profiles to determine if a given profile will result in a bell tunable to the note desired. Blind experimental casting iterations on a 12 ton bronze bell are impractical.

All best wishes for F360.
