For everyone that wants a wrap function in Fusion....

Been working on easy ways to do this....more to come later....

Here is a sample model with results. I could have done any pattern or design just chose this because it has been asked for so many times.

This took about 2 or 3 min to do.

@PhilProcarioJr Amazing work! Truly inspired to see some creative thought applied to seemingly rigid processes and loving the results! Looking forward to playing in Sheet Metal once it goes live...

David

Can imported .svg's work in sheet metal workspace? For example, I drew some classic cars in illustrator and couldn't get them to work very well on rounded objects. I wonder if it could be done in sheet metal workspace? If so, this is going to be an epic update!

Yes that's how everything in this thread was done.

@jeevesme

I'm not sure based on your description what exactly your wanting to do but here is an SVG used with sheet metal.

Oh man. That's exactly what I was talking about. That's ups the "I need it right meow" factor. Does anyone know how close they are to release?

I'm pretty new to Fusion still, although I've been on board about a year, I still feel I'm missing a load of stuff when I see these amazing works, well done, and hopefully some day I might get to a 10% of your expertise!

And I guess your surgery went well, glad to see your later posts, I'll be following your posts as from now on! I got to this thread as a client wants a paint stencil and I hoped to find a way of doing a wrap around a paint roller 😉

Cheers!
Andy

Ok, I have to ask. How do you get a shadow like that? @PhilProcarioJr I can not seem to find a setting like that in the scene settings where to turn hard shadows on and off, perhaps I am missing something some where.

Thanks

Yes I am incredibly interested in this functionality. Thank you for this thread, these examples are really amazing. I was certainly curious about the Sheet Metal inclusion but after seeing these examples of what it can do with creative application I am very excited to work with implementing it myself. I have been studying 2D tiling patterns for some time and have been experimenting with recreating them in three dimensions. The next step or level once this is completed is to wrap the "2.5D" pattern construction around a sphere to make it fully 3D.

For example I would love to be able to wrap or pattern this structural style geometry of the Asanoha pattern I created onto a sphere, much like the stylized flower of life pattern is wrapped around this sphere under the guard beast claw. Based on what I have seen in this thread the Sheet Metal space will make this a reality and that makes me very happy 🙂 Thanks again for the inspiration, love the Fusion community!

@peterFU526

The current tools will not support wrapping around a sphere.

Not knowing yet the limitations of the tools could it not be created using a flattened sphere like this

Then it would be one bend to create a tube and a couple of bends to curve the tops and bottoms over.
